2 Year Anniversary

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Aunt Jinnie came over to baby sit so that David and I could get gussied up and go out to dinner in celebration of our TWO marital years together. Last year, we celebrated Paper, this year, Cotton.

David made reservations at an amazing restaurant where we have always wanted to eat, Highland's Garden. It's an old house in the middle of a great neighborhood that creates a lush and inviting setting with it's greenery. There was a special table set for us on the side porch, as seen above.

For the first course, we split the Pear, Sherried Walnuts and Saga Bleu Cheese Salad. This is 1/2 of the salad! So much food. All pictures were taken on David's iPhone, but apparently my hand was a titch shaky. It could have been because after 2 sips of my Colorado Riesling, I was a tres loopy.

For the first course, I had the Blackened Sea Bass on a sauté of shrimp, corn, okra, and tomato sauce. This was my second choice, as earlier in the day, when I had previewed the menu, I had chosen the Soy Glazed Tuna. Alas, they had already sold out of it.

David had the Mini Ribs with zucchini, onion, potatoes and feta.

For a sweet ending, we ordered the strawberry rhubarb crisp, and I had a French Sautern which is a lovely cool dessert wine that I highly recommend.

The box on the table above held my cotton gifts to David from our new favorite store Martin and Osa. Finally a clothing store that markets to me. We had a great time out together, getting to enjoy eachother's company.

Week-end in Review

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Last week-end was a whirlwind of fun times, including all of my favorite summer activities. First, while DG was off building fences, Hadley and I met Lora and Liv at the Cherry Creek Farmer's market. Slathered in sun screen and a hat, we walked through and got some amazing tomatoes, cucumbers and a loaf of Udi's ciabatta bread. On Sunday, we met Lora and Liv again at the Market in Larimer Square for lunch and Piazza del Arte, otherwise known as the yearly chalk art festival. Here are future BFFs Liv and Hadley getting to know eachother. Here is the little snippet of their conversation: "Hadley...Hadley... cute." :giggle blush: "Liv, so pretty. Wanna play dress up?" They are 13 months apart.

Here is one particularly good piece that caught DG's eye.

Here is a close up of the detail. Less than 4 hours after we left, all the hoses came out to wash all of these away!

And finally on Sunday night, we packed up the picnic back pack and headed up to our old hood to watch a free jazz concert in City Park. This is a weekly event in the summers. We met Kurt, Marie, and Luke who were in our Baby Class. We feasted on grilled chicken, potato salad, snap peas, red pepper, cherries and special Tiramisu from Sushi Den.

The New Improved Me

Friday, May 30, 2008

DG took this photo at 11:15pm last night in the bathroom when I was getting ready for bed. Even though you guys were no help at all, I got a new shorter cut for the summer with some lighter highlights including a honey, blonde, and an auburn tint. (Sometimes a girl just has to try and feel pretty.) Hard to see the lovely colors in the bad bathroom light. DG got his haircut too, and our hairstylist at Grand, Jessica, lives near us and gave me a ride home after so I didn't have to take the light rail. Now that's service!

I proceeded to go out and strut my stuff at nine 75 to celebrate Meaux's big old 40th birthday! It was great seeing all of my old friends, who mostly now have kids. Three of us have babies just 2 months apart.

We had goat cheese ravioli, won ton tuna tacos, chipotle lobster tacos, and flash seared yellowtail sashimi to start. Then I had the shrimp and scallop risotto. I highly recommend this fun restaurant. Now I just need to go try and make it around the park again today though I'm still a little sore from earlier this week.

Out on the Town

Saturday, September 22, 2007

DG and I have headed out on the town for a nice dinner twice in the past seven days. Each time, our dinner companions took a picture of us. Both are remarkably similar. Ok, quick, in 10 seconds, what's the same but different?

1) We are in a restaurant booth (more comfortable for sweaty bellies sticking to legs)
2) I am on the outside (easy access to bathroom)
3) I am in the same outfit (crap)
4) DG shaved his flavor saver.

Parenthood Practice

Thursday, August 16, 2007

David's parents came to town last week to babysit our niece Bloom for the week-end while her parents were out of town. Friday night, we drove up to have dinner at Efrains, our favorite mexican restaurant in Lafayette, CO. All the waitresses at Efrains know Bloom, and knew her order by heart. Cheese quesadilla and pinto beans. Bloom also likes tortilla chips, dipped in water. She was an angel and we had a great time.

Me-N-Tara

Monday, August 06, 2007

This week-end, my friend Tara that I met in Indiana came to visit. She is one of those friends that is so easy going, that even if you do not see her for a few years, when you meet up again, it's just like picking up where you left off. When DG asked us how we met, Tara had a great story. "We had a friend who always dated crazy girls that none of us liked. One day he told us he was dating a really great girl and he wanted us all to meet her. We were all very sceptical and then we met Christy and knew she was by far the coolest girl ever."

Well the guy is long gone, but Tara and I have been friends ever since. We both left Muncie about the same time. She headed to NYC to design clothes and currently works for Macy's as a designer for their Charter Club line. Over the years we have kept in touch and managed to see each other quite a bit.

She only stayed for one night, so we made the most of it and headed out for dinner at Lola, a coastal Mexican restaurant. We had to order the guacamole as they bring a cart to your table and make it fresh there in front of you. We also invited Jeff to come out with us as his wife and kids are out of town. It's nice to see Jeff eat an entire meal like a normal person without chasing kids around.

Happy New Years

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

DG and I got all dolled up and hit the icy roads for New Years. I wore my new fun Bebe top from the SIL, and my new winter coat from the DG. I went from hairy and unshowered to kinda cute. To see all the pictures, go to DGs Flickr site.

Then we went and had dinner at Le Central a local french restaurant with a special fixe pris 3 course menu. Needless to say, it was amazing.

Afterwards we went to Cyn and Jeff's house to ring in the new year. Let's just say that I was DD so I was not even drinking and I still managed to get some promisciously dirty looking pictures taken. Maybe DG will post our midnight video.
