False Alarm

Sunday, November 25, 2007

Well, it was a ruse to get you all excited. We are not having a baby today. But to tide you over, here are some pictures of DGs surprise 40th Birthday Party last night.

How cute is he? That's my baby daddy.

Le Bakery Sensual did an amazing job with the cake that I ordered. I have to admit though, Lora came up with the cute idea. What you can't see is that he is wearing a snow flake sweater. You may remember this bakery from my bachelorette party cake.

Celebrating the DG

Saturday, November 24, 2007

Even though it is a few weeks early, we are going to to DGs favorite restaurant tonight to celebrate his birthday. It's a big one you know. The biggest. Think mid-life, Geritol, and Depends. Just kidding lovey. *kisses*

But I wanted to make sure that in the whole birth of the baby, that he didn't miss his chance to get his drink on. And the good news is that the restaurant is only a few blocks from our hospital.

Bloom is Three!

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

This week-end our niece turned three years old and we were priviledged to attend her pool party. When the birthday girl arrived at the party, she was toting her purse like any modern woman would, and would announce to anyone that asked that she was THWEEE and hold up her fingers. The morning zoomed by as I chit chatted with all the moms there. Then the cupcakes were eaten. I watched with interest as the energy level in the room exploded. As the frenzy of activity went up, I realized that this was my future. And then I realized that this was ok.

Happy Birthday America and Mom

Wednesday, July 04, 2007

I'm have not been feeling very patriotic lately and do not feel the need to celebrate America with everything that is going on. But then DG reminded me that we are celebrating our Independance, not just being American. Oh yeah.

I think I would rather celebrate my mom's birthday today. I recently was sent a bunch of cute pictures of her, with the explicit instructions NOT to post them on the blog. Because I am feeling like a good daughter today, I won't. *sigh* So instead, I will give you pictures of my latest knitting project AND my mom's birthday present. Several months ago, I posted about some gorgeous new yarn that I bought. And here is the final product, a decorative scarf.

This picture shows how the scarf hangs.

This one shows the detail of the beautiful mohair and silk blend against the varigated wool yarn. Don't look too closely at the details as you'll see where I dropped stitches.

Even though this is a standard scarf, this project posed a challenge for me due to the nature of the fibers. But I wanted to create something unique with luxurious yarn for my mom because she deserves it. Happy Birthday Mom!

Surprise, You're 50!

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Saturday evening, we drove up to Boulder to the Med restaurant to celebrate my friend Connie's 50th birthday. Her husband Tony set up the surprise for her so that when they walked in, we would all be sitting waiting for her. It was great fun and as you can see from the picture, she looks suprised.

One of my favorite stories about Connie is that one year as we were gearing up to celebrate her 45th birthday, she realized that she was actually turning 46, and that somewhere in the last 5 years she had skipped a birthday and had been celebrating them wrong all along. It was quite a tramatic moment and called for quite a bit more alcohol than say a normal 45th birthday would have.

Though either way, Connie is the hottest 50 year old ever and she looks so young. Her motto "Five perfect 10's!". Happy Birthday Connie.

Birthday Weekend

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Sunday morning we put the dogs in their seat belts and took a drive into the mountains. Our intent was to tree peep, but earlier in the week-end, the mountains got dumped on with snow. We only drove up to Silverthorne which is just on the other side of the Eisenhower tunnel. It was gorgeous, sunny, and beautiful.

We went up here two days after our wedding, packed a picnic lunch and went to Lake Dillon with the dogs. It is one of my favorite things to do.
