Saturday in the Park

Monday, November 03, 2008

This week-end, DG and I walked to the park for a picnic lunch and some swing time for Hadley. More than the swings however, she is utterly fascinated by watching the kids play. Like she has been stranded on a dessert island and is just realizing that there are little people out there just like her.

Here is a representation of fall in Colorado (facing east away from the mountains). It's no New England fall that is for sure. But we work with what we have. It reminds me of when we were in New Hampshire visiting the Allbee farm this summer and Sally was making fun of the brilliance of the trees in Connecticut boasting that New Hampshire trees were so much more beautiful and deep red. It makes me giggle to think there is state rivalry over the tone of the trees. It's like me thinking that Kansas can kiss our trees asses.

I Love it When She Smiles

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Sometimes I just want to hug her, and squeeze her, and tickle her feet, and whisper loving adorations in her ear. And when I start, I can't stop. So I hug and tickle and whisper, and she giggles and hugs and kisses my cheek. And inside of me I feel all warm and gushy and in love with her. Nothing else matters. I want to tell everyone to go out and get one of these. Internet, seriously, go get a kid. It's the best of times.

Autumn has Fallen

Thursday, September 27, 2007

and it's time for a new centerpiece.

My mom made this lovely green velvet table runner for me for my birthday. It's the kind of color that makes me want to paint the walls. I immediately matched it to our green tea light holders and when DG brought home these colorful gourds from the grocery store, I turned into Martha Stewart's less talented step sister and created a display on top of a cake platter that we got as a wedding gift.

Now the real question is, will I have the energy to decorate for Christmas when the time comes?

New FALL Header

Friday, October 06, 2006

I love it when DG beats around the bush and then finally tells me to go look at my blog because he has sneakily added a new header. I *heart* it, but where is Ms. Tica I ask? Apparently she lines the entire background of the header, which is only visible to be seen by dogs, or MAC computers.

It's officially fall PART TWO

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

My friend Michelle, inspired me to make my first roast chicken ever. Honestly, after 15 years of being a vegetarian, I started eating chicken about 4 years ago. For the most part, I stick with boneless skinless chicken breast. I am not a fan of chicken on the bone. But it is fall and I was feeling adventurous. So I got out my roasting pan that I got for Thanksgiving last year and had at it. Wow, it was so easy and so good. I put potatoes, turnip, parsnips and carrots in the bottom of the pan under the chicken. Holy cow, what a bit of chicken fat will do to veggies. Yum. I even made a quick little gravy. Don't ask for pictures though because 10 minutes after it came out of the oven, I had that carcass torn apart and thrown in a pot to simmer for chicken noodle soup tomorrow night. Go me.

I am ready for something bigger. Who wants to come visit for Thanksgiving?
