Palin's Lies
Thursday, September 18, 2008
FINALLY!!!! The Today show this morning details each of the lies that Sarah Palin has been using to further her political career. Not just one little white lie, not just two or three...a myriad of falsehoods.
When Bill Bennett, a McCain supporter and conservative syndicated talk show host followed this segment to defend the republican ticket, he brushed off the lies as "small beer, really small stuff". "It doesn't really matter whether she has or has not been in Iraq." he said. He then tried to compare Joe Biden's record against war as "more consequential" than these lies. Trying to mask the lies by pointing out an honest man's voting record? I'm going to need some blood pressure medication.
Small inconsequential lies are when I tell my husband that I was way too busy to do the laundry today, when in fact I was incessantly reading political editorials and playing solitaire. BIG huge lies are when you tell the entire country to hire you because you have foreign policy experience because you went to Iraq and Ireland once when you actually never set your foot in either country. Thanks but no thanks Sarah Palin.
And finally, in the I-threw-my-damned-tv-out-the-window Category, the new McCain ad that I saw this morning slamming Obama's economic policy is completely and outlandishly incorrect. You can see what a big craptacular load it is here.
::Takes a breath:: I apologize for all of the politics on the blog this week. I swear, next week it will be back to pictures of Hadley and poop talk.

I hear you!
This is a nice little blog:

Anyway, I hear she can see Russia from Alaska and oh, John McCain has no idea what continent Spain is on. Excellent team! :)
tell it like it is sister! And if you are sick of posting politics, let me guest post for you-- though I won't be able to keep it clean, or articulate the extent of my dislike for ms. palin. Best tip yet: people are donating to planned parenthood in her name... and she gets a thank you note! HA!
i check womenagainstsarahpalin daily--- LOVE them. today's posting started something like "can you imagine her leading the country through the current financial crisis??!" God help us.
i'll stop now, but only so i can take CP to soccer (read: not hockey) delete my comments if you want, couldn't help but rant!
Craptacular...what a fantastic "word" to describe the Palin-McCain combo (well, it really is, isn't it?) mom G.
I was taking a perverse pleasure in hearing two co-workers slamming her today. They were discussing the trashy stuff from In Touch magazine, not exactly the best source for political news. And I'd be much happier if it was her platform rather than her pregnancy that was driving the discussion. But given how depressed I was about the recent polls, I'll take any sign I can get that my demographic of Middle-aged, white, hockey moms are not going to blindly vote Palin.
My sanity is being saved by the better poll results today. Looks like Colorado is our best, shining hope. Good luck as you face the onslaught of polls, ads and stump speeches.
The really sad part for me is that I so want us to move forward in this country and put a woman into the highest office - but I want a qualified, gifted, articulate, peace loving woman who understands cultures, geography, consensus decision making and is able to talk with and relate to all kinds of people and bring people to the table to come to agreements about the good of the world despite our differences. There were plenty of wonderful, very qualified gifted Republican women to do that such as Olympia Snowe or Kay Hutchinson. But once again we have been patted on the head with an unqualified woman and every one who asks her hard questions gets tagged a sexist. So very sad for our country. Let us actually think "country first" as the Republicans keep saying and act in that manner. Palin does not qualify as a country first candidate and don't give me crap about this being historic. Have we forgotten Geraldine Ferraro? Now that was historic. Have we forgotten that the Republican party has been foremost against equal rights for women? Give me a break. JGA
I also wanted to give you a link to Mudflats, if you haven't seen it yet. It's a liberal Alaskan who was already doing a political blog about state politics when Palin was named the V.P. nom.
Oops, Dan's blogging again, so I need to remember to sign in. The two above comments are mine.
kudos JGA, very well said. We want a president who makes us proud, not ashamed. Palin's views are dehumanizing... how is this feminism??
100% unrelated, but worth a glance...

Southern Ohio rocks :-)
Chunky Soul, Thanks! We are actually going to the one in Denver tomorrow with Tica our black and tan doxie. Come see her race!
Sometimes the tone of McCain/Palin ads just plain confuses me. There is one that is run often here in Florida about "the original mavericks." It's so full of lies that when I first saw it I thought it was a parody. But sure enough, McCain endorses it at the end. I always just feel speechless when I see it.
I get so worked up about this campaign that I think it actually affects my blood pressure. I couldn't sleep the other night and all I could think about was how frustrated this campaign makes me. The next morning I went to the doctor (32 weeks!) and she told me to drink some wine to calm down. Nice, huh?
I totally agree. Craptapular load. They are a parody of themselves that you can't take seriously. Everytime I hear what they say, I am all "Really? You are really saying that?"
And BTW, awesome new Autumn banner! And fabulous new photo of you! You look hot!
