NOT ME: So when are you due?

ME: 26 days!

NOT ME: Well, you LOOK like you could go at ANY time.

*sigh*

No matter how it comes out, it just never makes you feel quite right.

Your post has made me ponder... I started to wonder if it also is a matter of ignorance, along with a matter of insensitivity.

I mean, in general most folks don't see a 9 month pregnant woman very often. And on TV, a supposed 9 month pregnancy is never portrayed very big. They are usually about a 7-8 month size.
Just a thought.

Do you agree?

DG and I recently had a talk about how I love it when women tell me how small I am for being so pregnant. But that once in awhile, someone will say, "Wow you're big" and I'm not sure how to feel or what to say. Being 35lbs heavier definitely makes me more sensitive. However later that week, he asked a girl in our birthing class who is 3 months behind us, but bigger in the belly than me if she was having twins because she was HUGE. I scolded him immediately and had to remind him later that no matter if she is huge, it's just not fun to hear that all the time.

I'm not sure that it can be chalked up to ignorance or insensitivity. Every woman carries her pregnancy differently.

Also, people tend to talk to you more so when you're pregnant. I don't think that they think they are being insensitive when they tell you that you are big, because in case you don't have a mirror, you KNOW you are big.
