I'm Showing
Tuesday, June 19, 2007
I was at a party this week-end and a complete stranger asked me if I was pregnant. This can be a totally risky move on their part. I looked at her shocked and said *gulp* yes, I didn't realize I was showing. I thought my cute sundress was hiding it very well, but apparently not.
At least in this instance I had an excuse. Because there was that one time that I was completely naked in the gym locker room and someone asked me if I was pregnant. ::horror:: Um, no just fat. I'm still working on those extra pounds I gained this winter *nervous giggle*. Mortified - me, apologetic - her.
Would you take that same risk?

I can not understand why people do that!! At least you'd hope they only do it once and then learn their lesson.
I heard somewhere that you never ask if a lady is pregnant unless there is a baby emerging from her at that very moment.
I was also asked if I was pregnant once when I was in a store by the cashier. I was so embarrassed and destroyed. This was a store I was in very often and saw that person all the time.
Just for kicks, I think that even when I am 9 months pregnant, I will tell people that, no, I just have some extra weight to lose. And thank you so much for pointing it out.
I am requesting more pregnancy updates and pictures!! How often will this opportunity happen?
WHen I was younger I got asked a few times if I was pregnant (when I wasn't) and it devastated me...I can remember each incident like it was yesterday. However, when I really *was* pregnant, one friend didn't even notice -- and I was 9 + months at the time!! Weird. But maybe this woman overheard you talking, or noticed that you weren't drinking booze, or both....
Bigchunkysoul - Thanks for the comment! Well I was at a party, and maybe she was a little tipsy with open inhibitions and felt the urge to ask. I will say that she did follow it up with "well you are skinny everywhere, except your belly, so I figured you were". It helped a little.
