Hockey Schmockey

Saturday, January 20, 2007

I’m spoiled, and not in a give me diamonds and chocolates way. I am spoiled because when we go to any sporting event, we get either box tickets or really close seats through DGs work. I don't know one toothless hockey player, so to me, box seats amount to free food, free drinks and the dessert cart. Last night we caught the Colorado Avalanche play the Redwings. I went for the dessert cart. Unfortunately we missed because we didn't get there until the end of the third period. Hockey has periods, uh huh. Not half time, not innings, no quarters, periods.

I have mixed feeling about box seats, maybe because I never got the VIP food treatment. I loved the comfy chairs and our own T.V. But by the time the free tickets trickled through the Sales dept to accounting(me) or kitchen(dan), it was for unpopular events. And it's not much fun trying to cheer on the Capitals when you're far from the action and nowhere near any other fans.

I much preferred the lacrosse games that we went to. We sat in the first row behind the goals and could see the players mashed up faces as they were checked into the boards.

The box seats at the Pepsi Center here do not feel too far away. The viewing is still great. I rarely sit in the seats, I'm usually in the kitchen eating the completely catered meal. I definitely like it for the food.
