Mood Music

For my birthday, my digitally adept husband got me an IHOME. Apparently I had been asking for one. I got my ipod for Christmas several years ago and I use it when I go for a run, ahem, (i.e. never), or when I am allowed to play it through the speaker system in the backyard (i.e. rarely). Why use my ipod when DG has all the cool music, right? Wrong!
I LOVE waking up every morning to different music on MY ipod. I can choose a song, or let it surprise me. I have the best taste ever! This morning I got out of bed to angry girl Liz Phair, yesterday it was REM, the day before that it was the Pixies. I can also fall asleep at night and have the ipod on a timer. I love falling asleep to music (though DG does not). I am currently going through a Simon and Garfunkel phase. It reminds me of 10th grade English when Mr. Stank used S&G songs to teach us poetry. They are poetic. I want to listen to them every night. The sound is so crystal clear, that it's like I am in a funky art house movie.
Once in awhile when it is on shuffle, I get the "What the H-E-double toothpicks is this song?" This has allowed for a cleansing purge of the ipod. But I still have 5 gigs of space left on it. What are you listening to? Any recommendations of what I should put on it next?

Sooo...what exactly is an IHome again? How cool, and happy birthday again! I'm afraid I haven't been musically adventurous lately. Mark is though. I highly recommend The Gossip. Kinda angry, catchy tunes.
I love the Mr. Stank reference though! I saw him some years ago at Ames, when it was having their going out of business sale. He remembered me!
An ihome is a digital alarm clock/speaker. You can click on link in the blog to see it. How was Mr. Stank? He was pretty young when we were in high school, so he probably remember the hot girl with the big boobs! duh. Did he ever get married?
Okay, where'd my post go....
I was saying that if you wanted something in the WTF category, I've got some John Denver. Got it for sentimental reasons, because my mom loved him. "Grandma's Feather Bed" makes me want to dance and "Annie's song" makes me cry. Although, maybe you have too much of him in Colorado.
I picked Sting for the Poetry/Lyric Report. Still remember it was "Children's Crusade.
Duh, the link. oh, yeah. I look at one of those everyday at work. My boss has one in the office. never uses it.
Mr. Stank looked exactly the same when I saw him. Do you think he was gay?
My Mom listened to John Denver too. And ABBA.
I'm having trouble remembering Mr. Stank. The teacher some of us had for Advanced Eng in 12th grade (and I think he taught 11th) definately was. Mr. C something. I remember when we went to NYC for a trip his big thrill was buying shoes and having Tea at the Plaza.
Mr. Cavallo, he's stillthere.
How can you not remember Mr. Stank? (short for John Stankovich). Wouldn't it be great if he googled himself and found this discussion about him? Amy, I swear you have the best memory of all of us. I can't believe you remember the song you picked for our report. If I had to guess, I would say that I picked a Beatles song. Do you remember what I did? :)
And yes Mario Cavallo was our 11th grade english teacher. He pushed us in a way few other teachers did. Specifically when he randomly called on you, you were not allowed to say "I don't know" you had to come up with an answer.
Poor Mr. Stank. I think his name did him in, not his job. And cheers to Mr. Mario Cavallo.
Mr. Cavallo who ALWAYS referenced his mother in a story and had the combined voice of Fraiser and Niles Crane....oh yeah, he was batting for the other team alright! But let's remember who he's related to in our family of friends.....Roxanne!
BTW: If you're looking for awesome music, look no further than the one and only, Bill Joel!
Joy, The Gossip sounds JUST like the type of music I would love.
