Step Two: Merge Your Lives
Monday, August 21, 2006
Step one of course was get married.
Logically then, Step two is to merge your lives together financially and otherwise. We started this week-end by going on one cell phone plan. DG gives the details here.
I am not a techno-geek. I don't need a phone to play music, serf the internet, or check sports scores. All I want to do is to make phone calls. I'm used to getting a free phone with my 2 year contract, because I just don't care. I didn't even want to make a decision about it, because I just don't care. I don't care what color the phone is, how the key pad lights up, it's accessories, or how many games it has on it. I just want it to work when I call people.
So we go to the phone store, a basic phone is picked out for me, and apparently I do care. I care because I now have a red phone. A phone that I think is the tackiest accessory that I own. Tackier than the Genie pants I wore to Shaharazod when I was 16 and dancing to "Push it". A phone with a mere 10 ring tones? What do you mean my only choices are Bohemian Rhapsody and Kung Fu fighting? So I only get 10 choices of ring tones, but the phone is so excessive in its other acoutrements that the thought of reading the 316 page Guidebook makes me start to doze off and drool on myself. zzzzzz....
Oh sorry, were you still reading? I was face down with my lip stuck on page 1 Getting Started.
Ok, I'm chucking the book and my new plan is to tear up (and cry if necessary) until DG figures out how to download the theme song from Grey's Anatomy or Gilmore Girls as my ring tone.

You should at least care what kind of games are on it!!
red??! of all the colors, why red?
sadly, her only choice was red. they were out of all other colors.
Well, I'm even less of a techno-geek. I've tried twice to be a cell phone user and always forget I have it, never use it, leave it at home etc. And now we can't even get a signal at our house, so what's the point. You want me to mail you my Motorola flip phone?
You know what TV theme I love now, C'mon C'mon by the Von Bondies for Rescue Me.
Mom, I don't do well with video games, esp. when the characters are the size of ants.
Red, red, red, my only choice.
I haven't hear of Rescue Me. What station is that on?
F/X. Denis Leary in the FDNY and swearing up a storm. It's funny, crass and dramatic. It isn't on until 10, so I only started watching this season with the Tivo. Finale is tonight, Leary's cop brother who was sleeping with Leary's ex-wife, who is carrying Leary's child, was shot last week. It's a male soap opera.
