Quote of the Week-end

Friday, June 16, 2006

"If people spent as much time working on their marriages as they do planning a wedding, there would be a lot less divorce."

The details, the details, it's hard not to get bogged down in the little details that no one will remember. How true this is, but also if you only knew how bad it can really get. I feel we are having the most simplistic detail free wedding ever, but it is still a lot of planning.

On that note, DG and I just had our 2 year anniversary this week-end, but with everyone in town, we kind of forgot about it. Last night when I was pestering him in a fit of insecurity about whether or not he still wanted to marry me, I was scolded for forgetting the date. I guess this is something I will have to do better with. 8.12.06 just kind of rolls off the tongue, I'm sure I will remember it forever. I love you DG and can't wait for another 2 X eternity years. *gulp*

I hope DG forgives you for forgetting the anniversary. You had a lot on your mind!! Mark and my engagement anniversay is Aug. 1. Two years. We already act like a married couple.

i wouldn't call it scolding. i did not exactly remember on THE day. i just think it is funny that a girl forgets that kind of thing, not to typecast or anything. we can celebrate at any time. love you too.

When I first met Dan, I wrote his birthday on my calendar, but couldn't remember if it was Dec 26 or 27. (I also spelled his name MacFarlane instead of McFarland). So for years I'd get his birthday wrong, which is why we decided to get married on Dec 26, so I would remember his birthday. Although we actually got married on the 28th so his best man could come. Haven't seen him since.

Details: decorations for the cake table, centerpieces, flowers, colors, favors, candy buffet or no candy buffet, boutonnieres flower, flower types, ribbon wands, blah blah...

Amy that is so funny. Dan and Dave are 12 days apart :)

WTF are ribbon wands?

Ribbon wands are pretty much the joke of the wedding industry, though many people still use them. Rather than throw bird seed or blow bubbles at the bride and groom as the leave, each person is given a ribbon wand which is pretty much a stick with a 3 foot ribbon on it. The ribbon can be in the colors of your wedding, and even be imprinted with your names and date, etc. Everyone then waves their ribbon wand in an arc over the couple as they leave. There are huge fights on theknot.com and other wedding sites over the use of these.
