Clean Out Your Closets
Friday, May 19, 2006
It's spring and time to do some cleaning. I go through my clothes every year and move my winter wardrobe out of the closet, pack it in bins under my bed, and move the spring clothes in. I also take this time to see what I did not wear the previous year and put it in a pile to donate to the Salvation Army. Once in a great while I kept a favorite item hoping it would fit again someday - oh the longing. Such is the case with several pairs of pants that I recently found that I now fit into. These precious clothes which were once the love of my wardrobe, that took up space in my storage for years and years, waiting for that day when ah ha, they would fit over my hips again were saved with good reason. Eagerly, I started trying them on, thinking that I had something new to wear, only to find out that though they do 'technically' fit, they look completely unflattering, have lost their shape and have gone way out of style. Not acid washed jeans out of style, but close enough.
So feel free to take a lesson out of the Christy handbook. Don't save clothes in your closet that you are hoping will fit you again someday. Give them away. I promise by time they will fit, you are NOT going to want to wear them.

Hello, you ex brazen hussy rock star, how are ya? I'm doin an informal inquiry about the possibility of a female President. I feel if Hillary runs she will get the Demo nomination. The election is only 29 months away. Your thoughts please. Sorry im off topic. Any of your female friends feel free to comment.
STOP!! give your old clothes to ME!!!!! i guarentee your rejects are waaaaay more stylish than anything in my closet. consider it a recycling program, i'll pass them on to the SA when i'm done, promise.
I think if I went digging around in my parents closets I would find a size 8 suede green miniskirt circa 1990. I am never, never, never giving it away!!
You could hold onto the clothes for ten more years. Maybe they'll come back in style and having kids will rearrange your hips and thighs so that they look flattering again. Meanwhile, I'll run a marathon, Nathan will write a symphony & Claire will graduate college at the age of nine.
Tell Your mother. She currently takes up an entire 8' X 10' Walkin closet. I have Zip for cloths in it.
If we had followed your advice, you would not have had the disco shoes and bell bottoms that you wore in the late 80's
Wouldn't your cloths be a little big for Cyn.
I should have prefaced my entry with the fact that if I have a particular piece of clothing that I am unable to part with, it goes to the costume bin in the garage. Which is now 3 bins in the garage full of old disco clothes, wigs, platform shoes, and much much more. Whenever we have a dress up event to go to, we can more than likely throw something together from these bins.
That being said, I'll work on a Hillary post later this week.
