The Contenders
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Since I am unable to talk about my own dress, let's talk about the BMs. In round one of Bridesmaids dresses we have three contenders.
Ann Taylor
Lovely, inexpensive, silk, green dress:
Pros: Price, fit, color (it is much greener than the picture shows), and they could wear it all summer long as a sun dress.
Cons: A bit casual, and anyone else could wear it to the wedding!

The Vera Wang
The ladies like this one the best, but I suspect it has more to do with the name than anything.
Pros: It's um Vera
Cons: Price, probably needs to be altered

The Kiwi - The actual color is very similar to the Vera above. This is the most bridesmaidy and very flattering. It is hard to see in the picture, but the top is made up of horizontal strips.
Pros: Price, beautiful chiffon layers.
Cons: Will need to be altered, may not ever be worn again.

I know every bride says the same played out phrase: "Maybe they can wear it again someday". At least I'm not putting them in dresses like these ladies wore here or here, in the worst dresses ever website.
Our last option is coming soon from J. Crew.

Ultimately, I want the ladies to decide on what they like best and will be the most comfortable in. I'm not sure if I will post the winner. All those invited will just have to show up and see for themselves!

uyes, we have a problem: i love and i want them all!!! can we wear one to the wedding, another to reception??? between girdles and boob pads i don't think we'll have to alter anything. :) trying on new sizes today-- can't wait!
I forgot to tell you that Friday night, after I got home, I took my shirt off to get ready for bed and just started giggle because I still had your milk pads down my bra! Ha.
I was wondering what happened to those! :) tee heee hee
they'll be used again on your wedding day as armpit shields. your dress won't be ruined on my watch!
the j crew one looks like the style of dress, only longer that i wore to my junior prom with your father in the dark ages - for what it is worth it does not get my vote - i wish i could see true color in the other dresses
I wish I knew your BM's. I like the J.Crew one best if you're really going for a "wear again" look. The Vera might be a little too sophisticated. You don't want them looking better than you!
If I had a picture from my cousins wedding I'd send it to one of those websites. They had white fur hand muffs instead of bouquets. The cake had little pewter D&D figures on it. There were also some very poor choices in invites, favors and the Bride's dress. Topped off by the wedding party doing a lewd dance to "The Macerana". Ah, family.
Holly is 5'9" and weighs about a buck and change. Cyn is 5'4" just had a baby 3 months, is almost back to a size 4 and has huge milk jugs. Each one of the dresses looks really good on them.
I would also like to see pictures of your cousins wedding. Holy cow. I hope that I do not look back on mine and think grody.
Mom, you went to the prom with Dad? Where is that dress? It's v. stylish. The Ann Taylor is very apple green. The Vera and the Organza are a cross between sage and apple. The color is lovely. Haven't seen the JCrew one yet, though I don't think it will be that puce looking.
there is *no* way... nooo way anyone is going to look better than Christy on her wedding day. (dave's knees will buckle for sure, can't wait! but it may be a good idea to compare the BM's wear to to the brides to ensure the fabrics don't clash.
oh yeas, I want to see your mom's prom dress too!! in exchange I'll see if I can get all the dresses A.Martha wore as a BM back in here day.
Don't know that i still have the prom dress - it was not strapless like the jcrew one. my vote is for vera or kiwi for whatever that is worth. and yes i went to the prom with your father - mine and his
